Lucky
Brea with Bat Country saved my cat’s life. I was out of town and Brea noticed something was wrong with my little Lucky. She contacted me, advising me of the situation and told me what she thought the problem was. She made an appointment with my vet and while there, conferenced me in so we could all discuss the situation.
She got Lucky on meds and watched him. She sent me pictures and fussed over my little guy so he wouldn’t be scared. By the time I could get home, he was on the mend. She even contacted me afterward to check up on him.
The notes and helpful tips she left with me were amazing. And while this was all happening, she was also able to monitor my other lil dude’s eating, to make sure he ate all his food (and she sent me pictures when he cleaned his plate!).
I originally chose Bat Country because of her qualifications – she is well versed in animal medical issues and is certified in animal CPR. My lil guys are getting older and more complicated. Both of them need medications, and I needed to know that my pet sitters could handle things like that.
If you want a pet sitter who will treat your pets as her own, who is knowledgeable, professional and caring, you want Bat Country. Brea is totally committed to your little fuzzies. And she’s also just a really nice person that you’d want to hang out with.

We aren’t the easiest household to find a pet sitter for; we have a senior dog with social anxiety, a small grumpy parrot, and two ball pythons. Between the special needs of our dog and our exotics, we really needed to have someone be at our place nearly 24/7 for a pet sitting gig, and it was really hard to feel comfortable leaving for any extended amount of time.
Despite these challenges, Brea really knocked it out the park! We left for about four days, and she stayed with our animals nearly the whole time, with a few breaks here or there to take care of her own critters. Medication for our senior pup was dispensed correctly, and we received daily pictures and updates of all of our animals.
She also paid close attention to the emotional and physical state of everyone, and made sure we were aware of any changes (such as giving our dog pureed pumpkin if he seemed to have some stomach troubles, which we asked her to do). If we had any questions, she was very quick to respond and we were never left on read. Upon our return, the animals and house looked just as we left them.
Outside of her very evident education in animal caretaking, and the obvious joy she gets from spending time with animals, I was particular struck by how professional and thorough she was about security. She walked us through all of her security measures, both to protect herself and our property while we were away. She clearly takes this aspect of the job very seriously. All around I felt very comfortable having her in our space and I would absolutely invite her back for this kind of thing again.
I also want to mention that as a bird owner, Brea showed a great deal of knowledge and patience when dealing with my bird. He doesn’t take to new people particularly well or quickly, and she was able to pick up on that and take it extremely slowly with him and left him mostly to his own devices, which we were all on the same page about. I still felt confident that she would be able to intervene if something was wrong with him, but she didn’t push to make a connection with him too quickly which I really appreciate.

Bat Country Pet Sitting recently took care of our two cats and home while we were on vacation. We have two cats; one is elderly and has special needs (hyperthyroidism and renal failure). We arranged for two pet sitting visits per day.
Brea administered subcutaneous fluids and medications (oral gel and pills) to our elderly cat. She even provided a text update with every visit, which helped us feel at ease during our time away. She also took great care of our home, noticing some issues (outdoor wilting plants) which she took care of immediately for us!
It was a pleasure to return to our home and find it actually looked better than when we left. We will definitely use Bat Country Pet Sitting whenever we have to be away from our home. Highly recommend!

I was having a lot of anxiety about leaving for a trip out of the country and finding someone to administer subcutaneous fluids for my senior dog with kidney disease for the week.
My partner found Brea online the week before we left and I truly could not be more grateful that our paths crossed! She was *extremely* thorough, kind, and went above and beyond to care for my dog.
She even helped care for my other dog and snake and gave me tips for my reptile’s enrichment! Brea was very communicative, sent so many photos and updates. I will absolutely be hiring her again moving forward any time I need care for my pets!

My partner and I hired Brea to care for our 10-year old cat, Rosy, while we were away for a long weekend. Along with tending to food, water, and the litter box Brea also gave Rosy liquid medication by mouth. From the very beginning Brea was extremely professional and communicative, taking the time to come for a home visit to meet and get to know Rosy.
Additionally, when we felt nervous about the medication, Brea provided a second home visit at no extra cost to practice giving the medication with us. This trip was the first time we’d left Rosy after she was diagnosed with IBD and put on medication for it. Thanks to Brea’s expertise and compassion we left feeling much more secure.
While we were away Brea was amazing at communicating with us. She told us when she planned to visit Rosy, provided the latest status upon arrival, and sent a bunch of photos. She confirmed when she came and left, sending photos of the refreshed water/food. She also communicated how easy administering medication was!
Overall, our experience with Brea was the best cat sitting service we have ever had. We feel extremely lucky to have worked with her and are grateful to be in contact for all our future trips. We will definitely book Brea again and have already started to recommend her services to all our family and friends who will listen (and have a pet.) We came home to the best condition Rosy has been in after we’ve been gone. Thank you, Brea!!

After many years of using the same pet sitter it was with great anxiety that I sought someone new. I came upon Bat Country and was immediately impressed with her professional approach to the task. It was with some trepidation that I left for a week to a destination where I had limited communication, with no family members left in Austin as backup.
Things could not have been better! Brea handled my critters beautifully. Among others I have one dog who is terrified of strangers–an ancient female dog who cannot hear and is at best stubborn, and a neurotic male dog who thinks that the world is his bathroom. Additionally, there is an elderly cat with special needs. He requires medication daily, but does not appreciate the good intentions of those administering the meds.
I received daily updates–in spite of the communication issues–including pictures. The frightened dog ended up adjusting to Brea beautifully, and kitty not only got his meds but also was brushed and loved regularly. When I came home the house was probably cleaner than when I left it, mail sorted on the kitchen table, and clear notes about everything that had gone on.
I had been afraid I was going to have to cut back on the amount of travel I do when my previous pet sitter left, but am already planning other trips. I think the charges are totally in line with what one would expect to pay for quality care for pets, and the peace of mind that goes along with it. I wholeheartedly recommend Bat Country and will be happy to use her services again.

After having an awesome pet sitter for 8+ years who recently retired, we found ourselves looking for someone new. We dreaded looking for a replacement and felt certain no one could replace our prior sitter. We used her services for a vacation a few weeks ago, having her come to the house 2x per day. She sent detailed texts and pics on EVERY visit! One of our dogs requires eye treatment. There could never be anybody better than Brea to sit for your pet. I have 4 elderly dogs and one sick one. They all require special diets, and maintenance meds as well as the sick ones needs extra special care, sometimes in the middle of the night.
Brea just goes with the flow and is an Above and Beyond sitter and all around human. We love her, the babies love her and you can be sure you are in the best most capable loving hands when you hire Brea.
